  I cannot recommend this property. I had to kill FOUR roaches in the room I was staying in - as a paying guest. When I reported the first incident to the night staff, they informed me that it was normal and that using the air/heating system opens the room, exposing it to roaches. After killing two more roaches the following morning, I notified the manager, Ray, at check out, informing him roaches are not normal and should not be in a hotel that has a "very good" rating. Ray proceeded to explain the city pipelines (not the air/heating unit) were the cause of the roaches, and also cleanliness habits of previous guests contributed to the infestation. I was shocked by this experience and asked if I could receive a discount compensation for this poor experience; I was told "no" by the management. As my bill was being processed, the manager continued trying to explain/justify the reason for roaches in their hotel room. I thought his action was condescending and lacked a spirit of customer service. This property's dishonorable handling of this event ensures its failure. For those looking for lodging in Santee, CA, I can strongly recommend the Carlton Oaks Country Club; I stayed there a few days prior to this experience; Carlton Oaks Country Club's hotel rooms are old/remodeled (like this property); the rooms have the same air/heating units, and the rooms face the golf course- exposing them to the elements; but the rooms are comparably priced, wonderfully quiet, lovely, and most important - free of insects or roaches.

  Location was great for our business. Easy on and off from freeway. Lots of food choices and restaurants close by. Well maintained pool area. Good breakfast. Older hotel but has been remolded.
